If you have noticed pennants bearing these letters fluttering from craft and wondered what they meant, this is the name of the organisation of Pleasure Boaters on French Waterways, roughly equivalent to the British Inland Waterways Association.
The Association was founded in 1985 with the aim of helping its members and defending their interests. Additionally, its objectives are : the development of tourism on the waterways ; to represent members’ views to VNF ; to take part in discussions on inland waterways and the environment with other interested bodies.
The Association is organised into eight regional groupings, each led by local representatives elected by the members. Each region organises regular boat rallies, summer and winter social gatherings, and functions with other groups. ANPEI is represented at many major boating events.
Members also benefit from competitive insurance deals, and discounts from a range of suppliers.
The Association produces its magazine, Le Musard’Eau, four times a year. This contains information about forthcoming events, reports of meetings with other organisations, practical advice on boating and entertaining articles, as well as members’ adverts.
How to join ANPEI
The annual subscription is €44, plus €16 joining fee, which entitles members to a pennant and the quarterly magazine Musard’Eau.
To join ANPEI you can contact the Secretary, on 0033 (0)6 23 18 73 76 or print out the membership form from this site.
. . . and don’t forget about insuring your boat.
